My dear community, thank you for your positive reaction in my Mining Poll. I really appreciate that many of you decided to participate in XMR donation mining. The installation of the tool was much easier than I expected, so here it is – standalone mining page, which has a built-in miner app. No, IT DOESN’T RUN BY DEFAULT. You have to click the button to begin. This will change once I will apply additional options with a help from my friends from GoodOldDownloads.com – autostart, settings save, leaderboards and some more.

So to make it work, just click “Start Mining”, adjust the settings and leave the tab opened (you can pin it to save space).

Hello, my dears.

Maybe you’ve heard some news about The Pirate Bay testing the mining of Monero cryptocurrency in users’ browsers. While this technology is not new, TPB made it public and looking pretty scary. The reason is simple – they did it silently, hijacking CPU power without their consent. But the principles lying in that technology can change the face of how users may “repay” the sites and services and make them drop advertising as a primary income source.

One of the great sites which adopted this technology properly is GoodOldDownloads.com, made by superb members of RIN.ru community. If you click on “Donate” button there, you will open a special menu, giving you an option of mining a Monero currency in behalf of the site admins. With just percentage of users who gave a fraction of their CPU power, GOD now can function more stable and proper, giving all of you direct links to GOG releases, which are usually much harder to find.

While having a traditional way of receiving donations via BitCoin I think that Monero browser mining is a very interesting stuff. I get messages daily about other ways I could receive your donations, but for security reasons BTC is currently the only one. But let’s see, if you share my opinion about donations via browser mining. More donations mean more seedboxes I could lease, which means more speed for you all.

Rest assured, that I WILL NEVER RUN ANY MINER WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT. If I adopt the tech for my site, it will be a button like GOD have and you will have to run the miner manually and let it run in the tab for a time you want it to run.

This game is not worth another repack just yet, but since some of you’ve asked, here’s the
patch from original cracked version to v1.03. I think that 1.5 GB is slightly better than 12.6 GB 🙂

More than 100,000 of my visitors participated in this poll about the possible faster installations of my repacks. The current results show that majority of you would like to get a faster installers at cost of a small size increase.
OK then, here’s the public test of a new algo (codename ‘Lolly’ – NOT ‘loli’, you pervert!). The testset is pretty big (3.5 GB) and it contains four sample archives: one of them was made with my current algo and the other three were made with ‘Lolly’ with different compression options.

The point of this test is to gather information about decompression speed on different systems. If you want to participate, please follow the instructions below:

2. Unpack them to some folder with WinRAR or 7Zip
3. Make sure you don’t have any heavy CPU processes active – browsers included
4. Run four setups one after another and install each of them to the same folder
5. If you encounter dummy.arc error, just press “Ignore” or “Skip” button
6. After last installation open ‘time-log.txt’ in any text editor and copy/paste your results in comments to this topic along with your system specs. Please provide your CPU name, your physical RAM amount, your OS type and bitness and the type of disk you were installing testsets to (SSD or HDD).

   UPDATE: Disqus treats similar reports posts as spam, so it’s recommended to post screenshots with reports. Use services like gyazo.com for making cropped screens.

As you could notice, the list of upcoming repacks is constantly growing, yet I release them on a slow pace. Real-life caught me in, but soon I’ll get back on track.

Imagine, that I’ve changed my repacks algo in a way, when they install faster (up to 3 times, depending on settings and game data), but the compression ratio is slightly worster (around 1-5%). Would you like such change?
